Moss includes several background improvements that make normal gameplay smoother across Java and Bedrock.
Java and Bedrock compatibility
Menus and formatted text are adjusted where possible for Bedrock players. Some gradients, custom models, and interface details can still render differently between platforms.
Improved experience orbs
Nearby experience orbs can merge to reduce entity load and are pulled into collection range when players approach. The configured SMP experience system may also provide a small collection boost.
Multiplayer sleep
The night can pass after the required percentage of players sleep instead of requiring every online player. Sleeping can also clear bad weather when enabled.
Anvil improvements
Moss preserves item-name formatting during normal anvil use and supports improved repair-cost handling. Available name colors and exceptional enchantment combinations still depend on server permissions and current limits.
Client presence
Supported clients such as Feather or Lunar may display the Moss server name, address, player count, and session information through their rich-presence features.
Announcements and maintenance
The server periodically displays useful information and restart warnings. During maintenance, only authorized staff can join until normal access is restored.
